An-tropico, the installation created by Gupica for Besana Carpet Lab, conjures up a neo-exotic microcosm for Milano Design Week 2026.

The project revolves around the Traccia carpet designed for Besana Carpet Lab, and Gupica’s own Bambù collection of lamps.

Set within the palazzo at Via Cesare Correnti 14 in Milan’s 5Vie district, the installation conjures a dreamlike atmosphere where the interplay of light and textile surfaces generates an evocative experience.

At the heart of this setting, the Traccia carpet designed for Besana Carpet Lab becomes a surface that tells a story. Minimal, abstract graphic marks reinterpret the animalier print, moving beyond hyper-realism. The design is a cultural testament and visual memory, evoking the 1970s through an idea of freehand painting that complements the material, following the nap of the fibers to suggest the idea of fur without directly reproducing it. Thanks to the shifting quality of the textile surface, the animalier pattern comes alive with a captivating visual effect, echoing the natural movement of animal fur and deepening the parallel with real fur.
